Legalization of Cannabis, and its changes

Legalization of Cannabis, and its changes

It is now permitted to have in your possession 150g of dried cannabis in a residence and 30g of dried cannabis in a public place, with the exception of certain places specified in the Cannabis Act.

It is also allowed, except in Quebec, to grow four cannabis plants per dwelling.

What remains prohibited in Quebec?

– Selling cannabis (except for the SQDC)

– Growing your own cannabis

– Giving or selling cannabis to minors

– Driving while under the influence of cannabis

Another novelty in this law is the notion of a ticket. For some offenses listed in the Cannabis Act, it is now possible for a peace officer to issue a ticket rather than going through the court process.
