Fraud is provided for in section 380 of the Criminal Code.
What is Fraud?
According to the Criminal Code, a person who uses lies or deceit to fabricate a false document or to perform a service could be accused of fraud. It is, in other words, to expose, by dishonest means, a person to a risk of an economic harm.
Penalties for Fraud
If you are convicted of such an offense, you could face up to 14 years of imprisonment.
However, it should be noted that in cases where the fraud exceeds of the value of one million dollars, the law requires a minimum sentence of 2 years.
Each case is unique and the sentence varies according to the circumstances and the amount of the fraud.
